Due to the recent wildfires affecting Southern California, the IRS announced on January 10th, 2025 that they would provide tax relief for individuals and businesses affected by the circumstances surrounding the wildfires and straight-line winds.
The tax relief is offered to those residing within the designated areas established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which only includes Los Angeles County at this time. One of the options for tax relief extend the deadlines for filing returns and making payments for taxes originally due between January 7, 2025 and October 15, 2025.
Affected individuals and businesses now have until October 15, 2025, to submit their returns and pay any taxes due during this period. Click here to view what else is affected by the October 15th deadline.
