Celebrating National Small Business Week (May 4th-10th, 2025)

National Small Business Week is the perfect time to honor the incredible contributions that we, as small businesses, make to our economy. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, small businesses employ nearly half of the American workforce (representing 43.5% of the U.S. Gross Domestic Product), foster innovation, and create jobs that drive local economies.

Here are some helpful tools and organizations that can support your business growth:

  • U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA):  The SBA is the go-to resource for small business owners, offering guidance on everything from funding and planning to growing and marketing your business. The SBA also provides access to low-interest loans, disaster relief funding, and educational programs.
  • The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) – Small Business and Self-Employed Tax Center: Managing taxes is a critical aspect of running a business. The IRS offers resources specifically for small business owners, including information on tax obligations, deductions, and credits you may be eligible for, like the Employee Retention Credit or SBA disaster loans.
  • Washington Small Business Development Center (SBDC): With over 1,000 SBDCs nationwide, these centers offer no-cost, confidential business counseling and low-cost training. They help small business owners navigate everything from market research and financing to technology development and international trade.
