The IRS Has a New Mobile App

🗞️The IRS Has a New Mobile App — Here’s What Taxpayers Should Know

If you like being able to handle things from your phone, the IRS has some good news: IRS2Go has been replaced by a new IRS mobile app, giving taxpayers access to more tax-related services right from their phones.

The new app officially launched on September 25, 2026, and it keeps many of the familiar IRS2Go features while adding access to selected services from your IRS online account.

What can you do with the IRS app?
Depending on your account and the services available to you, you can use the app to:

– Check the status of a federal tax refund or amended return.
– View your IRS balance information.
– Make eligible tax payments and review payment activity.
– View certain IRS notices and letters.
– Access available tax records and transcripts.
– Manage certain profile and communication preferences.
– Access your Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)

What about IRS2Go?

If you already had IRS2Go on your phone, you don’t need to start from scratch. The IRS says existing users will receive the new IRS app through the normal app-update process if automatic updates are enabled. Otherwise, you can update the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

The IRS app is available in both English and Spanish.
